Who We Are
Trying to describe who we are has been somewhat of a challenge for it is hard to describe who we are without really understanding who we were. Except for a few, most of us have experienced a significant amount of damage and pain in our lives, which quite naturally resulted in our adopting all manner of self-protective dysfunctional behaviors—some of which have been rooted in the depths of our souls. These self-protective behaviors have been barriers to our ability to experience intimacy, trust, security and love in both our relationship with God and our relationship with each other. It has further limited our ability to love each other with God’s Agape love. That is who we were; but who we are is completely different.
The Lord has been building our community through deep inner-healing so that we are no longer controlled by the pain, the hurt, the anger, the resentment, the bitterness, the hatred, the fear and insecurity that has to date been embedded in our souls. He has shown us why He allowed us to be wounded in the first place and how every wound was an expression of His love. Through this work He has been bringing genuine healing and we find that we have been able to better and better respond to each other and the circumstances of our life out of faith and His love as opposed to merely reacting from pain. We have come to understand that everything that He allows in our life comes from Him and is intentioned for our good—to conform us into the image of Jesus. He has been making us into a body that knows what it is like to abide in Him and cling to Him for our very lives.
He has also been clearing off all the junk on our foundation (all the wrong belief that keeps us from walking by faith and hearing His voice in our lives) so that we are able to build securely on Him. We have come to believe that walking by faith, under the influence and total control of the Holy Spirit, is God’s desire for our lives. We understand that living under the control of the Spirit is not like a prize that is won in a contest. No! The pathway of faith is a belief system that must be maintained moment by moment, hour by hour, minute by minute, and thought by thought. It is a constant life-long battle to live by choosing to believe the truth of the Word of God over and above what you might otherwise feel or reason with your own wisdom, intellect, or rational. Walking by faith is about letting the Word of God truly be authoritative over your life.
Take a Closer Look.
Therefore, at Pathway Fellowship we focus on knowing the truth, believing the truth, and then letting this truth have dominance over all that we think and all that do. The best part is that this is a journey that we are taking together. We are committed to each other and committed to helping each other learn to trust Jesus in the all the places where we would otherwise trust ourselves. We are in this together. Come join us!
