Donkeys are famed throughout the Bible but entirely misunderstood. They stand as a metaphor for our lives. The wild donkeys exhibit all the characteristics of a person who lives according to his/her flesh (Old Sinful Nature); whereas, a tamed donkey is symbolic of a person who lives according to their new life in the Spirit of God able to bear the burdens of others serving the will of the Master. This has been a consistent metaphor throughout the Bible.
