Those in Laodicea confused their personal wealth and success with their spiritual wealth and success. They believed that if God had “blessed” them then they must be doing it right. But they were wrong; all wrong. Jesus wanted them to embrace the fires of testing, trial and suffering that would purify their faith; He wanted them to choose to clothe themselves in His righteousness, and not their own form of “goodness.” He wanted them to let Him heal their eyes so they can see things according to God’s standard and not that of the world. If they did; Jesus would let them sit on His throne as He sits on His Father’s throne. The ultimate reward.
