Chapter 11 is a puzzle box. We are given a picture of God measuring out the Sanctuary in the Temple but He tells John to not measure the rest of the temple as it is given to the nations. This is a picture of the true church of Jesus Christ (Sanctuary) contrasted with those who claim they belong to “Christianity” but don’t really know God (those in the rest of the Temple). Those who claim to be “Christians” (Whether protestant or Catholic) but don’t know God will persecute the true believers for 3.5 years during the first half of the tribulation.
