Jesus demonstrated His perfect submission to the Father's will when he healed the lame man at the pool of Bethesda. Walking through a crowd of ailing, sick people, all of whom could have used His help, He went directly to this one man who had been lame for 38 years and could not get in the healing pool, and told him to get up walk away with his mat. This is how Jesus saves us; he tells the truth, and when we believe His word, we are healed. We are then to get up and walk away from the disease and dysfunction of our old lives, living the pure lives of those who are healed and saved. Just as the sick man did, we may encounter friction from those who are steeped in the traditions of religion and ministry, but we cannot compromise. Out of millions of suffering souls, God chose us to be saved. When we believe His word, we are no longer sick, but healed by unfailing grace.
