John 17: 1-10

Gospel of John

Jesus illustrates for us the purpose of prayer - a time to connect with God from deep within our souls; to seek the comfort of just being in his presence. We see Jesus draw strength from this most precious relationship as he buried Himself in His Father's protection hours before his crucifixion. This is eternal life - the most intimate relationship with God that we have NEVER imagined, simply because we can't fathom it. If you are still struggling with true, active, sacrificial belief don't forget that it took the disciples 3 years WITH Jesus in order to really understand and believe the things which He was teaching them. They, just like us, had to be willing to exchange all the wrong belief (their pursuit of fulfilling the law with righteous deeds and their preconceived notions about the coming Messiah) with the truth that Christ was teaching them and begin a lifelong pursuit of knowing and abiding with Christ. Today the message remains - if we exchange our false reality for His truth we will experience intimate, eternal life, and Christ will do His righteous deeds through us.
