Jesus said we are his friend IF we obey his commands. The only way we are able to obey His commands, however, is by completely abiding in Jesus and living by the Spirit of God. Imagine being a friend of God: for Him to reveal to you His secrets, to understand His language, to be able to know and speak from the mind of Christ, to have His wisdom, to understand what He’s doing all the time, and to have the fruit that is produced from your life follow you as a reward throughout all eternity! To have this we must love one another, which means we must abide in Christ, which means that we must be thoroughly convinced that without Him we can do nothing.
