Hebrews must be interpreted first through the eyes of 1 century believing Jews in Jerusalem and Judea who were being persecuted by those loyal to Judaism. We don’t know who wrote it but it was written prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. These believers were being tempted to return to Judaism to find relief from their persecution. The Spirit says that would be a big mistake for nothing in Judaism compares to Jesus (all things come from Him) and the perils of choosing to live in wrong belief and unbelief are dire. It’s a plea to remember they belong to a big “G” God and not a little “g” god.
